HalalDL 0.6.1 — Privacy and Security Maintenance
What changed in HalalDL 0.6.1: desktop telemetry removal, safer queue-only deep links, tighter Tauri boundaries, and preserved local data.
Desktop telemetry removed
The desktop app no longer collects or transmits telemetry. Startup cleanup removes only the obsolete telemetry.json identifier file; it does not remove your working data or downloaded media.
Safer website-to-app handoffs
A valid halaldl://download?url=... link now queues the media URL and waits for you. Starting automatically requires an explicit start=1 flag, and malformed, credentialed, unsupported, or oversized input is rejected.
Paste a media link
Validate it in this browser, then add it directly to the HalalDL queue. Requires v0.6.1 or newer; nothing starts automatically.
The URL is not stored, routed through Vercel, or attached to analytics.
HalalDL not installed? Download itTighter desktop boundaries
- Tighter Tauri content security policy and window capabilities
- Restricted local file opening to approved paths and supported targets
- Full, Lite, and Portable artifacts produced together with SHA256 checksums
- The existing local queue, history, presets, Library, and media files remain available

Why raw logs matter when extractors break
Site rules and extractors change. Visible yt-dlp output makes failures understandable — and that should stay part of any serious GUI.
